About His Work Ministries
... evolved from a time when Janet quit her secular career to go into full-time lay ministry starting the Woman to Woman Mentoring Ministry at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California and her husband Dave was subsequently laid off from his job. When people asked what Janet was doing for work Dave would reply, "She is about the Lord's work." Today About His Work Ministries encompasses Janet's writing and speaking ministry and AHW Publishing. In spite of a number of trials and tribulations, which provide depth and insight to her writing and speaking and continually grow her faith, God has been faithful to keep Janet "About His Work."

Janet Thompson is the founder and Director of About His Work Ministries, also known as AHW Ministries, and a prolific author and speaker on topics relevant to today's Christian women.

The Woman To Woman Mentoring Ministry, founded at Saddleback Church in 1996, continues to grow as thousands of women experience the blessings of participating in one-on-one encouraging and supporting spiritual friendships. In order to share the Saddleback Church Mentoring Ministry with other churches, Janet wrote the Leader Kit, Woman To Woman Mentoring How To Start, Grow, And Maintain A Mentoring Ministry (LifeWay Press). As churches use these resources to start mentoring ministries, thousands of women around the world commit to walk beside each other in mentoring relationships.

Janet's book Dear God, They Say It's Cancer (Howard Books / Simon & Schuster) is based on her own battle with breast cancer.

Praying For Your Prodigal Daughter (Howard Books / Simon & Schuster) is a walk-along beside you book from Janet's own experiences as a prodigal daughter and being the mom of one.

Janet is currently writing: Dear God, Why Can't I Have a Baby? a book on infertility and the experiences of two of her daughters with testimonies and stories from others, a devotional Lunch With Jesus featuring her original poems, and a leadership book The Team That Jesus Built.

The Lord has blessed Janet with many life experiences. She gives God the glory as she openly and honestly reveals the hand of God in her life and helps her audiences learn to hear God's voice in their own life. You will laugh, cry, and reminisce as she shares the lessons she has learned in the multiple seasons of her life. You and she will grow closer and more intimate with God during the time you spend together.

Janet's passion and life focus is one generation teaching and training the things they have been taught to the next generation. It is God's plan for the continuation of the church. "One generation will commend your works to another" Psalm 145:4. Women and men today have become so wrapped up in the world's call on their life they often forget the teachings of Titus 2:1-5 instructing spiritually older men and women to teach and train the spiritually younger.

In 1995 God put a call on Janet's heart to feed my sheep. That has become her life mission to pour into everyone God puts into her path and to help others do the same. Consequently, churches consider Janet the expert in Christian mentoring as evidenced by a recent email: Our Pastor believes that the women already in the Woman to Woman Mentoring Ministry and those interested in signing up to join would be so blessed from your wisdom and guru of Mentoring Ministries, Marti Wall Pinelake Church, Brandon, Mississippi.

Janet has a Bachelor of Science in Food Administration Degree from California Polytechnic University, a Master of Business Administration Degree from California Lutheran University, and a Master of Arts in Christian Leadership Degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. She is also a CLASS (Christian Leaders Authors and Speakers) graduate, and a member of AWSA (Advanced Writers and Speakers Association).

Janet and her husband Dave have four married children and ten grandchildren. They are enjoying the season of life known as empty nest, or as Janet calls it, Parents Time To Rest. Dave is a Community Leader in the Saddleback Church Couples Ministry and a helpmate partner with Janet in AHW Ministries. They make their home in Lake Forest, California.
